One recently settled lawsuit indicates increasing liability on healthcare organizations and growing responsibility on the shoulders of emergency managers. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, one large hospital organization was closely examined and scrutinized for their preparation and response to natural disaster. The lawsuit alleged that the hospital failed to prepare for a “foreseeable” event.
