Firefighter Hydration with First Water Systems

The ResponderTM provides an immediate and readily available water source for firefighter hydration and rehab.  Any water carrying apparatus is the ideal platform for a water purification unit to support emergency response crews during and after an incident.

As an incident commander, you are responsible for ensuring the safety of your crews in an extremely challenging work environment.   By the time most emergency personnel stop to drink water, they are already at a dangerous point of dehydration.   This is compounded by the challenges of providing easily accessible water to your crews.  While water is available on the apparatus, it is not clean to drink or easy to distribute.  Bottled water is an equally challenging alternative as it requires logistics, available personnel and transportation. Supply Station Now Available

First Water Systems, Inc. announced today the availability of its new Supply Station.  The Supply StationTM completes the total water purification solution for locations where there are no natural bodies of water to draw from.  The Supply Station specifically focuses on critical infrastructure, such as urban hospitals, where a place to draw water from can be a challenge.

While compromised water mains still provide the best option for a water source, there may be times when the mains go completely dry.  In this instance, the Supply StationTM is an excellent solution.  Available in either 2,100 or 3,000 gallon capacities, the Supply StationTM provides a front-end component to the process that can store a significant amount of water prior to being purified.  The source of this water would typically be from the local fire department.  Most fire departments would be happy to supply critical facilities with an occasional tank of water during emergencies if they know that the facility would then be self-sustaining for its water needs. First Water Responds to Equador Flooding

First Water Systems, Inc. responded to a request by the government of Ecuador to provide assistance with the historic flooding experienced by approximately one third of the country. While in-country, First Water personnel also deployed to the mountainous areas of the north, meeting with and learning the critical clean water needs of the native Incan Indians.

While Ecuador is known for its incredible beauty, it is also home to the Machangara River, considered by many as the most polluted river in the Western Hemisphere. It is common to see both raw sewerage and industrial chemicals being dumped directly into the river. Prior to approval to deploy its patented water purification equipment, First Water first had to first directly drink from the Machangara, and also run extensive tests on the quality of the purified water. After seeing First Water personnel drinking the putrid water, Mr. Mario Ramos, Minister of Public Health, also drank the water and immediately moved to implement the technology at all 200 emergency shelters addressing the current flood crisis.
